Our Story
Moulsecoomb Social Club
Part of local life for generations.
The club first opened its doors on 7 September 1930, beginning life as a meeting place for the local Ratepayers’ Association. From those early days, it grew from the use of just one room into a long-standing members’ social club at the heart of Moulsecoomb.
Set within the historic surroundings of Moulsecoomb Place, the club has a story that stretches far beyond its bar, function room and dancefloor. The building itself is part of one of Brighton’s most historic sites, with heritage records describing the club’s original home as the old ‘Tudor House’ or ‘cottage’, dating back to around 1500. Over the decades, the club has adapted, changed and grown, but its purpose has remained the same: to provide a friendly, familiar place where members can meet, relax and enjoy themselves.
Today, Moulsecoomb Social Club continues that proud tradition as a welcoming members’ club for the local community and beyond. Whether you are popping in for a drink, joining friends for a night out, attending one of our regular club nights, or enjoying live entertainment, MSC remains a place built around people.
Our club nights bring members together for music, dancing and entertainment, including singers, DJs and live acts throughout the year. We also host regular bingo nights, members-only raffles, prize draws and social events, giving everyone plenty of reasons to get involved.
For many, MSC is more than somewhere to drink. It is a safe, friendly and familiar space where members can catch up, celebrate, dance, laugh, take part and feel part of something. From quiet weekday visits to busy weekend entertainment, the club continues to offer the same sense of community that it was founded on nearly a century ago.
Moulsecoomb has changed a lot since 1930, but the heart of the club remains the same: community, friendship and tradition - with a warm welcome for every member.
